BEFORE THE SURGERY

Before the Surgery

Alabama Animal Alliance, Inc Fees & Services

Surgery can be worrisome for any pet owner. Being pet owners ourselves, we understand and believe that the benefits of spay/neuter far outweigh the risks that are associated with any surgical procedure.  The medical benefits pets receive from spay/neuter are some they could not receive any other way. To maximize these benefits we recommend having most female pets spayed before their first heat cycle. We offer the pediatric procedure starting at 4 months of age.

Our veterinarians are skilled surgeons who have dedicated their practice to solely spay/neuter. Since opening in October 2007, they have performed more than 112,500 surgeries.

Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling (334) 239-7387.

  • Due to the high demand for our services our phones lines may be busy.
  • Please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.

  • You must have an appointment. Please make an appointment online or call 334-239-7387 (PETS) to schedule your pet for surgery.
  • We recommend that you have your pet vaccinated at least two weeks prior to your appointment. If he/she is not vaccinated, we can provide vaccines on the day of your pet’s surgery.
  • Pets must be kept indoors or confined the night before surgery. This ensures that they are not outside, which could potentially be dangerous during surgery.
  • Your pet may have a quarter of the amount of their usual breakfast the morning of surgery. Pets may have water up to the time of surgery.
  • Check-in time for all clients is between 7:00 AM and 7:20 AM. You will be processed by number in the order in which you arrive at our clinic. Your pet will not be admitted before 7:00 AM. If you arrive after 7:20 AM we may not be able to admit your pet for surgery and you will need to reschedule.
  • Please leave your animal in the car until you have completed all of the required paperwork. An assistant will advise you when to retrieve your pet.
  • You must complete the necessary admission form when you arrive. Our admissions paperwork is a three-part carbonless form; therefore, it cannot be faxed or e-mailed. Additionally, we do not have the resources to mail this paperwork.
  • We require that you abide by Alabama state law and have a current rabies vaccination for your pet. If your pet does not have a rabies vaccine, we will administer it at the time of surgery for a charge of $12.00. If your pet does have a rabies vaccine, please bring your pet’s rabies certificate or medical records with the date of vaccination circled.
  • All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier.
  • We do not accept checks. We accept cash, Apple Pay, and all major debit and credit cards. You must pay for services at the time of check-in.
  • Our veterinarians perform a general physical exam of every patient prior to surgery. Blood work is not done prior to surgery. Our veterinarians reserve the right to refuse service to any animal to whom surgery is deemed a health risk.
  • We do not board pets. Dogs can be picked up as early as 4:00 p.m. and cats at 4:45 p.m. the day of their surgery. All animals must be picked up by 5:00 p.m. Owners who do not pick up their pets by 5:00 p.m. will be charged a $35 per pet late fee.
